Winter Exhibition 2018

This is the sixteenth Limerick Printmakers Winter Members Exhibition, an event that has become one of the highlights of LP’s annual programming. LP is dedicated to showcasing and celebrating the scope and talent that exists among Limerick Printmakers studio members while simultaneously highlighting the multitude of printmaking techniques and processes that are in popular use today. The breadth of work on show ably reinforces how expansive printmaking has become as an artform.

Limerick Printmakers current group of studio members encompasses practicing artists and printmakers, photographers, recent graduates across various artistic disciplines alongside graphic designers, teachers and lecturers. There is a dynamic blend of established, mid-career and emerging artists working from the studio. LP is committed to supporting and representing over 60 studio members through a range of activities including its exhibition programme which strives to promote high quality contemporary printmaking from the mid west and Munster region.

The Limerick Printmakers artists featured are Clare Blackwell, Kaya Brennan, Peter Cleary, Sinead Dinneen, Aine Finnegan, Helena Grimes, Gavin Hogg, James Kearney, Carol Kennedy, Cecily Kenny, Dan Kenny, Des MacMahon, Lisa-Marie Manthey, Ultan McAvinue, Laura O’ Loughlin, Tony O’ Loughlin, Suzannah O’ Reilly, Rowena Quill, Verona Stellet, and Clodagh Twomey.

Many of the LP members featured in the show have exhibited nationally and internationally and are represented in some of the most respected public and private collections in Ireland & abroad.

The range of methods and techniques on show includes silkscreen, woodblock, linocut, monoprint, etching, embossment, cyanotype, both stone and plate lithography, mezzotint, photo etching and collograph printmaking. The diversity that exists within the members of Limerick Printmakers and the processes they utilise is illustrated in this vibrant body of work that reinforces the relevance of the studio within Limerick’s vigorous and exciting artistic community and also that of the strength of printmaking as an artform that both encourages and demands experimentation and inventiveness.
